The AquaIllumination Hydra Edge 68HD is a next-generation LED lighting fixture that combines advanced optics, precision engineering, and effortless control. Built to enhance coral coloration, growth, and shimmer, this light features 68 high-output LEDs configured with AI’s all-new Solar Blue spectrum, designed to simulate natural underwater lighting conditions.
At the heart of the Hydra Edge is its EdgeField™ Optics – delivering an even 100° light spread that minimizes hotspots and maximizes uniform PAR across a 30" x 30" footprint. The Solar Ring, a center array of white and warm white LEDs, powers the Caustic Engine to deliver vibrant shimmer and light penetration. Whether used for LPS, SPS, or mixed reefs, the 68HD ensures your tank is lit with balanced intensity and visual clarity.
Its ultra-sleek profile blends effortlessly into any aquarium setup, while its near-silent active cooling and rugged construction offer reliable, long-term operation. The Hydra Edge is easily controlled via the Mobius app or integrated into an Apex system using Neptune’s MXM module.

EdgeField™ Optics
Designed for wide, seamless coverage, EdgeField Optics deliver a 100° spread with optimal color blending and PAR consistency. This means uniform lighting from edge to edge, free from color banding or uneven shadows.
Solar Blue Spectrum
Developed using insights from professional coral farmers and reefers, Solar Blue enhances coral fluorescence and natural coloration. Simply equalize each channel to simulate daylight spectrum – or fine-tune intensities for custom outputs.
Solar Ring & Caustic Engine
A dedicated array of white and warm white LEDs sits in the center of the fixture to intensify shimmer, simulate sunlight refraction, and bring unmatched depth to your tank’s appearance. The result is a visually dynamic display that mimics natural ocean lighting.
HyperDrive Efficiency
AI’s patented HyperDrive system intelligently reallocates unused power from one LED channel to another. This ensures maximum efficiency and output across all spectrums without exceeding total power limits.
Dedicated Moonlight Channel
Enjoy your reef after hours. A dedicated moonlight channel replicates lunar intensity and coloration – ideal for observing nocturnal behavior and maintaining a natural circadian rhythm for your tank inhabitants.
Smart Built-In Control
