The Hydra Edge 44HD by AquaIllumination is a next-generation reef lighting solution engineered for serious aquarists seeking powerful performance, high efficiency, and aesthetic refinement. Featuring EdgeField™ Optics, this fixture delivers an impressive 100° spread for seamless color blending and balanced PAR distribution across a 30" x 30" area. The new Solar Blue spectrum replicates natural reef lighting conditions, enhancing coral coloration and growth with pinpoint accuracy.
Edge's ultra-slim profile blends seamlessly above your aquarium while delivering a brilliant shimmer effect below, thanks to the dedicated Solar Ring and Caustic Engine design. Easy to clean, whisper-quiet, and smart-controlled via the Mobius app or Neptune MXM module, the Hydra Edge redefines professional reef lighting.
Lighting Technology & Performance
EdgeField™ Optics
The Hydra Edge uses EdgeField™ Optics to provide an exceptional 100° light spread, delivering even PAR across your aquarium and a specular surface for realistic shimmer. This helps ensure full coverage without hotspots or color shadows.
Solar Blue Spectrum
Developed from years of coral lighting research and user feedback, the Solar Blue spectrum is built into every channel and can be easily activated by setting all LEDs to equal intensities. The result is an optimized full-spectrum output that replicates natural underwater lighting.
Solar Ring Shimmer Control
The Solar Ring consists of dedicated white and warm white LEDs located at the center of the fixture. It enhances shimmer and caustics through its unique optic geometry, producing dramatic lighting depth and surface reflections previously exclusive to narrow-beam fixtures.
HyperDrive Efficiency
Hydra Edge uses AI’s HyperDrive technology to shift unused power between LED channels, boosting output where needed without exceeding total power limits. This makes the fixture highly customizable and energy efficient.
Dedicated Moonlight Channel
A built-in moonlight channel simulates lunar cycles, allowing you to observe nocturnal behavior while maintaining a natural nighttime ambiance in the aquarium.
Smart Built-In Control
Easily program the Hydra Edge using the Mobius app or control it via Apex Fusion with the Neptune MXM module. Wireless integration allows for seamless customization, scheduling, and spectrum adjustment.
